#42: Nap in a hammock
A super cool early birthday present from my dad and Georgeanne. A quick set up hammock I can hook up almost anywhere.

Despite the beautiful day, everyone was happy to be inside together for the first time in over a year. And I got to hug my dad.

Closer to pulling the trigger on this small piece of land to build a small cabin.

#17: Achieve 20% yearly gain on day trading accounts
Being heavy in tech stocks was not where you wanted to be in March. The DOW was up 6% in March, but again I lost nearly 5%. Thankfully, Crypto was kind and more than made up for the losses. Year to date: +63.91%

#54: Paint the exterior of the house
We were quoted $10,500 to paint the house, so we did it ourselves over a few weekends for $1400.

Context: started with .17 on Jan 1st. No plans to buy more, but that could change. Going to trade my way to a full BTC. Currently up to .27 of a bitcoin.

#17: Maintain a 20% gain in my day-trading accounts.
Dow was down 2% in January, but GME helped me book a gain of 19.55% for the month. Trading more, writing less. Not happy with that. Going to to try to reverse that trend.

California arbitrarily opened up outdoor dining, so we took advantage with some Korean BBQ. This lead to the kids sleeping over and eggs Benedict.

2020 in Review
Posted on January 26, 2021
Yes, 2020 was a dumpster fire-I even caught on fire (stupid story)-but 2020 was the shake-up I needed. It was a year of learning more transferrable skills. The lockdown disrupted my writing routine, so I built a library/office and fell in love with tools and building things. We couldn’t eat out, so I elevated my cooking skills. We couldn’t get on a plane, so we hit the road in an RV. I rediscovered my love of fishing and began my fly fishing journey. It was hard to spend money, so I learned about moving averages and diagonal spreads and started trading and investing. Tradesmen wouldn’t come to the house, so I became an electrician and HVAC repairman. Hemingway got cancer for the fourth time, so I dug deeper into nutrition and supplements. He’s a trooper. Our business suffered, but Sonia is a hustler and turned the loss into a major win by getting into the PPE business. And finally, we all survived. I didn’t even catch a cold.

Started the year off right with family.

Things we did before the lock. Hung out with friends. Zip lined. Vegas. Nephew visited. Supper club. Korean BBQ indoors. Brittany’s favorite band. H Club (RIP). MLB Spring training.

Then covid hit.

And it got worse when we lost this sweet boy soon after. Twenty good years.

These guys eased the pain.

But then cancer returned for a fourth time.

But Hemingway is no quitter, and once again, he made cancer his bitch.

With the city locked down, it was time to tackle some DIY projects.

Accumulated some tools along the way.

When we had to shut down the business, we dipped our toes in the PPE business and managed to stay afloat.

Went from outdoor dining…

To takeout. ..

To dining at home.

Started growing some food.

Lots of time to read. 41 books to be exact.

Saw a few movies, but 2020 was subpar for sure.

Celebrated our birthdays in quarantine.

Haircuts were hard to come by.

Plenty of pool time though.

Couldn’t hop on a plane, so we hit the road. Even got to hug my mom.

Rediscovered my boyhood love of fishing.

And as hard as the virus tried, it couldn’t keep our family and friends apart.
