Finally left Vegas with more money than we came with. Close to even for the year.

Enjoyed dinner at three michelin star awardee Peter Gagnaire’s restaurant, Twist.

Last Vegas Weekend of the Year.

Nothing is official until signing day, but Brittany has decided to commit to the University of California, Riverside. Her High School soccer coach probably jumped the gun with the announcement on the website because things can change between now and February.

Aggressive may not be the right word, but the creation of our 401k is the third pillar in our retirement plan.

X-mas cards are on their way. Hopefully they’ll never be as awkward as these.

Free at Last!

Sonia endured three years of torture for this moment.

Burgers at Bills in Evanston. Might have to add another weight class to the weight loss goals in 2013.

A most excellent Chicago brunch.

Hope to repeat this goal in 2013. Here are the places I needed to adjust my watch. 1. Pacific (California, Washington) 2. Mountain (Utah, Idaho) 3. Central (Chicago) 4. Alaska 5. Eastern (New York City, Atlanta) 6. Europe (Spain)

Chi-town

I won the luggage lottery. First bag out.

In addition to the above, Brit’s High School team played their first match (pre-season) on the new field. They won 3-1. Brit scored two.

Fast food, mediocre scenery, lots of cows and road trip karaoke. Best parts… 1. The beginning. Brittany discovers she’s being recorded. 2. At 48 seconds, Sonia is unfazed by me singing over her question.

Brit was offered a significant scholarship to join the current Big Sky champs, Idaho State Bengals. She’s got a tough decision brewing.

Full day at Idaho State today.

Road Trip

Salt Lake to Pocatello, Idaho.

Applications are in. Brit’s future plans are starting to crystalize.

It Finally Happened

We thought we were being brought in for an unofficial visit, but at the end of the meeting with the head coach, Brittany was offered a scholarship to play for the Division I UC Riverside Highlanders. Still get choked up thinking about it.

Toured UC Riverside today. We were all very impressed. I wish I was the one going to college.

The Agony of Defeat

With a minute left in the game, the ref inexplicably called a penalty in the box and handed the other team the tie. That lead to sudden death PKs which Brit’s team has only won once in about a dozen tries over the last five years. Make that a baker’s dozen after today’s loss. Despite being a minute away from making the finals, the…

No action shots today. Too stressful. But, Brit’s team won the morning game 2-1 and then the quarter finals, 2-0. A few college coaches were there to see her, so hopefully they were pleased with what they saw. If they weren’t, they’re idiots. Semi finals tomorrow morning at 8am.

A nice moment before the quarter finals. This could essentially be Brit’s last meaningful club game as far as college coaches are concerned.

Glad I don’t really enjoy golf because Torrey Pines looks gorgeous this morning.

Happy 22nd, Devin!

You were always my favorite boy band member.

San Diego: Day one of Brit’s biggest tournament of the year is in the books and her team didn’t disappoint. They beat a premier team from Colorado 3-0 in the morning, then followed it up with a 1-0 win against their arch rivals. Brit score all 4 goals on the day.

Brit played an incredible game and lead her team to a 2-1 over the U18 Norwegian Academy team. With a roster of junior Olympians and U18 World Cup players, the ridiculously tall Norwegians didn’t know what hit ’em. After the game, the two teams broke bread and confirmed teenage girls are pretty much the same no matter where they come from.

A rainy day means little projects around the house will get done.

Before and after

My niece Kennedy volunteered to be a fit model so that we could continue to tweak our styles for Basically Wee.

Once again, the Youmans boys joined their dad and played a round of golf to benefit the future multi millionaire baseball players of the world.

It came down to the tenth penalty kick in sudden death to determine who moved on to the Elite 8 of League Cup. Unfortunately, Brit’s team lost as is often the case when they don’t win it in regulation. On a positive note, the coach from D-1 UC Riverside called Brit after the game and showed some recruiting interest.

We made a third of what we spent at the “show” in San Diego, but we ate well.

We’re diving into a whole new market. Introducing… We’re seven pieces into the collection. Here is a pic we snapped on a friend’s daughter featuring the variations on the two Basically Me styles from above.

Marquette opens up the season with Ohio State tomorrow on the deck of USS Yorktown in front of a few thousand lucky souls. I will not be among the lucky.

In case you didn’t watch this weeks edition of Hollywood Xpress on the Spanish channel.

In case you were wondering who I voted for.

Sonia continues to stimulate the economy with stupid purchases.

LA lost in the 90th minute to San Jose and now must win a do or die playoff game in San Jose. i took this pic with my iPhone because the lens on my DLSR was somehow shattered when I went to use it.

Leg Muscle Edition

Brittany scored a lazer from 35 feet out to lead her team to a 2-1 win in the final league game of her career with the Sherman Oaks Extreme. There are a few tournaments and cup games between now and May, but the Club is quickly coming to an end.

Our first big flash sale and the biggest market is offline and without power.

The Next Project

The entrance to the back yard was getting a little claustrophobic, so out with the hibiscus and part of the banana tree. Once the landings are removed, we’ll replace all of the dirt/grass with stamped concrete. Results in about a week.
