#53: Read 10 books. I’m 41 years late to the party, but an excellent book.

Enjoyed a day at USC. Unfortunately for George, the Trojans were upset by Stanford.

The Highlanders gave Goliath another scare, but ultimately lost 2-1 to Arizona in overtime. Brittany continues to be leaned on heavily, playing another 60 plus minutes. They’re off to the Dakotas to play the last two non conference games of the season.

The trailer made me hold this movie to higher standards. The cast, the story, and I was thinking, Goodfellas, Casino, The Departed, etc. Unfortunately, Black Mass was pretty much meh.

Another great game, but the Highlanders couldn’t pull off the upset and lost 1-0 to LMU. The schedule doesn’t get any easier when they face Arizona next Friday.

#50: Go to a Giants Game When I was 9, I put “see a no hitter” on my life list. Tonight I came within four outs of watching Bumgarner throw a perfect game. Might be the closest I ever get.

Dinner with my mom and Jim. We ordered too much pizza.

A Heartbreaker

A moment of silence on 9/11    Despite dominating the #17 Cal Berkeley Bears, Riverside lost 1-0. Brit orchestrated the three best scoring opportunities while playing 70 minutes, including the entire 2nd half. 6 games in, it looks like the coach is now leaning on Brittany as his most reliable playmaker.

#56: Eat at a top 100 restaurant in the world The 17 course meal with wine pairing at Saison was certainly the most expensive meal I have ever had, but it actually managed to rank in my top three dining experiences, number one in the US. Sonia told the waiter that the only thing she was unwilling to try was the Uni (pictured above),…

Today I get three windows. Thank you Virgin Airlines.

Holy Hell it’s hot.

N.W.A. was my soundtrack on the way to high school for about a year, so I felt I owed it to myself to check it out. Pleasantly surprised.

Pre Labor Day at Dad’s. Sad to miss Brittany’s game at Cal State Bakersfield. But happy to hear she notched another assist in their 3-0 win.

A night at the Greek with the Gypsy Kings.

Out and about in LA. McArthur Park art installation.

Braised short rib hash for brunch.

Fulfilled a life long dream of parking an old vehicle on my front lawn.

Brittany’s breakout season continued Friday night with a 2-0 win over Houston Baptist. Brittany notched her first assist of the year and continues to be one of the most consistent players on the team.

Kershaw fanned 15 and threw one of the best complete games I have seen live. Unfortunately it completed the Dodgers sweep over the Giants.

Halibut Sushi with Truffles. A dinner well deserved.

UCR vs. SUU

Despite being 96 degrees and 110 on the rubber and turf field, the Highlanders did enough to beat Southern Utah University 4-2. Brittany started and managed to play 55 minutes without succumbing to sun stroke. Mom even scored an autograph after the game.

Cooling off in the pool with Hemingway.

A record breaking crowd showed up to watch the Highlanders take on the #17 USC Trojans in their first home game of the season. Brittany started her third game and played a solid 70 minutes, putting her in the top five or six for minutes played. The Highlanders hung on to a 0-0 tie until USC finally scored in 75th minute. They…

Goal!!!!!!!!!!!

The Highlanders bounced back and beat Liberty 3-1. Brittany scored a beautiful goal (the first) and played another excellent game. Borrowed Georgeanne’s hat. It was a lifesaver.

Ventured to Koreatown and ate at Pot. Finished the night at 80’s club, Break Room 86.

Enjoyed a new brunch spot in Studio City.

Game One

Despite controlling the game, the Highlanders lost 1-0 in overtime to George Washington. Brittany started and played an excellent 70 minutes.

Picture Day for UCR Soccer

Season starts on Friday. Despite finishing runner up Brittany’s freshman year, and fifth place last year, the Highlanders have once again been predicted to finish at the bottom in the league’s coach’s poll. Good to be the underdog.
