#21: Salsa Thank God there is no real footage, but we took Salsa lessons with the local Habana Salsa Company.

Afro-Cuban Dance Company

We walked down this street and found this seemingly abandoned movie theater where we were invited to take in an intimate performance with the country’s top dance troupe. At times it was incredibly intense and mesmerizing to watch. IMG_5209 2 from henry james on Vimeo.

La Guardia Restaurant

IMG_5288 2 from henry james on Vimeo. La Guardia is the most sought after restaurant in the city. Put it in LA or New York and it’s a six month wait list. Great food, but it’s the space the puts this one on top.

Private Concert w/ Yasek Manzano

These are special experiences. We were invited into the home of Cuban Jazz star, Yasek Manzano for a private show in the equivalent of a broom closet.  He was a student of Wyton Marsalis at Julliard.  Another pinch yourself moment,   Yasek from henry james on Vimeo.

The Malecon at Night

Malecon from henry james on Vimeo. The Cuban government has begun to allow Cubans to buy internet cards and access the world wide web along the Malecon (boardwalk). At night, it’s the thing to do.

Havana Beach Club

Old Havana

Brick road made of wood blocks and sand to muffle the sound of the carriages. All of the statues are of the Cuban revolutionaries who defeated the Spanish back in the Spanish-America-Cuba war. The house where the Cubans declared their revolution against Spain. The boat and sea plane terminal where the mafia and Hollywood elite entered the island. fort from henry james on Vimeo….

sushi from henry james on Vimeo. Ate sushi at the only sushi joint in Havana. Incredibly fresh sushi in the middle of a typical run down neighborhood. Viva Revolution.

Three channels to choose from, let’s see what’s on TV. All the same. 24/7.

Night Two in Havana

night2 from henry james on Vimeo. We had a magical private rooftop dinner with live music that couldn’t be captured with our phone cameras. Music and food is the life blood here. After dinner we wandered through the allies and listened to music in makeshift bars and talked with old Cuban famous musicians. It was a quintessential Cuban experience.

#23: Visit a Hemingway Haunt Hemingway moved to Cuba and lived at the Ambos Mundos hotel where he began to write The Old Man and the Sea. Hemingway’s ghost is everywhere in Cuba.

Day Two in Cuba

Started the day off with a walking tour of Old Havana.   Even stray dogs are tagged and taken care off in a socialist country.

I actually don’t mind things starting out this way. Bring on different.

A great view to wake up to on my 44th.

Our work neighbor in LA hooked us up with Jay-Z status security at one of Miami’s hottest clubs.   Untitled from henry james on Vimeo.

Tax Season is Revealing Some Crazy….

I spent what in 2016? Dogs are going on a diet in 2017.

We are moving closer to rebooting of our company and I need all of the help I can get.

Pool day!

Hemingway is enjoying today’s photoshoot.

#19: Read 10 New Books. Not as entertaining as Shoe Dogs, but another great book on a unique mind.

It was a bitter sweet weekend as I said goodbye to one of my best friends in high school, Brian Purcell (next to me, middle). Depression sucks. On the flip side, I was able to reconnect with friends, some of whom I haven’t seen in two decades.

First time staying at an ARBNB. Interesting place. Beautiful day in the Bay Area.

Nothing but color on  the drive up to the bay area. With all of the rain, California is healthy again.

Viva USA!

Wouldn’t have minded a closer game, but glad to have witnessed the win. My Dad interrupted their Puer-to Ri-co chant with One-Hit Ri-Co.

Took in a great semi-final World Baseball Classic game at Dodger Stadium. Puerto Rico edged The Netherlands in extra innings. Some very passionate baseball. Lots of MLB stars on Puerto Rico’s team, but who knew there were so many Netherland’s pros.

This one put the “UN” in “Fun”.

Night Song Market Chicken Burger. I’m regretting it this morning.

Tonight was the bitter sweet end to our daughter’s brilliant soccer career. I will always cherish the memories we shared on the pitch, but can’t wait to see what’s in store for this bright and dynamic young woman I’m lucky to call my daughter. brit from henry james on Vimeo.

It was good. Best Picture? Maybe considering the competition, but that’s not really saying much. I doubt it holds up.

#96: Less Clothes No drinking and eating at home has freed up way too many hours. Finally got rid of all the clothes I couldn’t in the past. Closet feels good.
