My little girl is engaged. Alex asked Brittany to marry him in front of me, Sonia and his mom at dinner tonight. Although they’ve been together nearly eight years (it took me 13 years), I was struck by my emotions despite knowing we’d eventually get here. I spent the last 26 years loving, supporting, counseling, and reminding my daughter that she is one of a kind, and tonight, those sentiments were echoed by a man that I have grown to love and respect.
