After the first six games of the season, Brit’s team was 3-3 and facing the prospect of breaking up. One more loss and their season and team was done. But rather than pack it in , the girls pulled together and won the next seven games and allowed just two goals while scoring twenty five to claim a share of first place. That brings us to today, the final game of the season. Sonia, Brittany and I woke up at 3am in Seattle and drove to the airport in hopes of making a stand by flight that would arrive in time for Brittany to be able play her final game of the season at 2pm. Unfortunately we were denied stand by so we decided to purchase three one way tickets to guarantee that Brittany could play. Although I would never pay what I did for World Series or Super Bowl tickets, this particular purchase was a no brainer. Despite the lack of sleep, we were able to deliver Brittany to the field in time for her to help her team win its final game 4-0. Not only did this win secure them their first league championship, it also guaranteed that they will move up to Silver or Silver Elite. After the game we celebrated at a local Italian restaurant where the girls, one by one and with no prompting from us, decided to address their coaches, teammates and parents with their appreciation. It was a truly priceless day.
